Tenchi Muyo: Honor and Glory Disclaimer: Geez, how many times do I have to write one of these? Well, like the previous five times, I DON'T OWN TENCHI MUYO! If you haven't figured it out by now, then you need some serious help. Well, now that I have finished with the disclaimer, here goes. Part 6: Warrior and Prophet Prophecies are an interesting subject, Professor. They predict the future, within reason. Usually, they are just the words of a lunatic, carefully preserved and copied by devoted people. Sometimes, however, they are true. Those who tell them are genuine oracles. The writings of the Tarellian Oracles are probably the most dangerous. They have never been proven wrong, and involve many people. These are powerful things, these prophecies. Kagato Tenchi was furious. That is the only way to explain it. The wedding was about to begin, when several hundred soldiers came in like a hurricane. Half the guards were already dead, due to the speed and ferocity of the attack. The rest formed a battle line and a pitched battle was being fought at the entrance. That wasn't the problem right then, though. The problem was the hundred that came in through the roof. Shattered glass littered the floor all around the area of entrance and the guards were being decimated on both sides. "There! He's one of the ones we're supposed to capture!" Came a shout from behind. Tenchi turned and saw five of the black robed soldiers bearing his way. He stood there and drew his sword. Several years of training flowed back into his mind as he met them head on. The fight was short and brief. Tenchi fended them off, but was nearly overtaken. Before they could, though, Mayuka came in like a tornado. After she was done, it looked like a tornado passed through the area. She was in her purple battle garb, and the modified claws on her hands were covered with blood. "Don't mess with my daddy, or you'll be sorry." She said to what was left of the soldiers. Tenchi looked around and saw that no one was near. He was glad of that, since very few people knew that Mayuka was his daughter. They knew she was related to him, but as a cousin from his mother's side of the family, which explained her Juraian appearance. "Mayuka, thanks." Tenchi said. "Don't mention it." She looked in the general direction of Ayeka and Ryoko. "You may want to help Auntie Ayeka and Auntie Ryoko. They are fighting some of those men." "Okay. Mayuka, come on, let's go." He took out the Master Key and activated it. He ran in the direction where he last saw his future wives. "Coming!" she materialized her own sword and followed her father to help Ayeka and Ryoko. Ayeka was beginning to get tired of this. She has been fighting for an hour, and it seemed that the soldiers were not even having a dent put in their forces. She saw Ryoko fighting several soldiers a short distance away. She noticed that her partner was having trouble keeping ahead. If help didn't come soon, they would be overwhelmed. To any that would care to listen, please help! She shouted silently. Someone listened. Tenchi and Mayuka saw the two women, and rushed toward their position. The soldiers were too intent on their targets to pay attention and were taken from behind. Half of them were either dead or working on it, before they knew what was happening. Still, the rest didn't stand a chance in hell against the pair. "Thanks Tenchi." Ayeka told him. "You too, Mayuka." "Damn, those soldiers are a tough lot." Ryoko commented. She was sweating profusely. "I'll say." Tenchi replied. "They tend to fight in groups, which makes it difficult to fight them. If it wasn't for Mayuka, I would have been overwhelmed." "She is one tough cookie, that's for sure." Ayeka agreed. "We have to find everyone." Tenchi said. "They came to take us prisoner, so we have to stay together." "It seems to me that there are a lot of them. We may have to use our true powers." "You're right, Ryoko. There are a lot of them. Too many in fact." Ayeka replied. "All right, then." said Tenchi, "We'll go in. Good thing that we can use the Lighthawk Wings." He looked at everyone. "Ready?" "Ready." Both women replied. "Then let's do it!" And without further ado, he tapped his true power. Mayuka, who was forgotten in the exchange watched in awe as her father, and aunts, changed into their Lighthawk armor. She was quite impressed. "Well now, I have to say that you all are impressive." She told them. "Mayuka?" Tenchi asked, noting the change in her mannerisms. "I know, this is not how I usually act, but this is the real me." She replied. "The real you? I don't understand." "Well dad, being killed has changed me." She replied as an explanation. "After Washu finished the growth process with me, she noticed that I wasn't the Mayuka you all knew. She and I talked it over and decided that I'd act as I did before my death." She took a deep breath. "I knew that a situation would eventually arise in which I would have to discontinue the fa‡ade and show my true self. Right now seems as good a time as any." "I never knew." He seemed dumbfounded. The looks on Ayeka and Ryoko's faces matched Tenchi's perfectly. "I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. But when I think about it, there were differences. Minor details that were not noticed unless one knew what to look for." "Yes I know. I have to say this though. Grandpa Yosho, Aunt Sasami and Teran knew." "Grandpa and Teran I can understand, they see everything, but Sasami? Sometimes she seems not to notice anything." "Trust me dad, very little does not get by her. She's the type that can read your soul like a book if you let her. That's probably why she and I befriended each other from the outset. She saw that I needed a friend, but didn't know why I needed one." She smiled. "She's changed since I last saw her, but she still has that soul reading ability that makes her a very dangerous person to anger." "Sasami getting angry?" Tenchi mused. "I can't see that as being possible." "That's because none of us has openly angered her. She's subtle when she's mad. We've all annoyed her before, and suffered for it, but we have never truly angered her." "How did we suffer for annoying her?" Ryoko asked. "Look back, and you'll see. Now I have explained myself and we have delayed too long. Right now, we have several hundred soldiers to deal with. That added on with the fact that we have to find everybody." "She's right Ryoko, we have delayed too long." Ayeka said. "We have to find Teran and Sasami." "What about Washu and your brother?" was the reply. "I have the feeling that they will be with one or the other." "Then all we have to do is find one of them. Everyone else will probably be nearby, and Teran is never far from Sasami for very long." She materialized her sword, which appeared as a blue blade pulsing with energy. "Just follow the path of enemy corpses. Neither of them like killing, but they are death machines in combat, especially Teran." "Then, where are they?" Tenchi asked. "I would think that they will be fighting the leader by now. My brother knows that if he takes out the leader, then the soldiers will lose their cohesion and be easier to defeat." "Then let's go!" They all materialized their swords and rushed off to battle. Kagato squared off with the shadow he called Althair. So far, all he has been able to do is hold his own. Kagato was very good as a swordsman, but this shadow moved like a master. He was gradually being forced back, as his sword blocked each strike. That blade is countering my energy. He thought. I can't get near him, but maybe I can deceive him into lowering his guard for just a split second. He began a complex routine that would leave Althair open for attack. When he finished the routine, he feinted to the left and then disappeared. Althair, stunned at the unorthodox move, lowered his guard. It was only the slight movement of the air around him that saved his hide. He leaped out of the way of the descending blade that suddenly appeared behind him. As it was, it grazed his shoulder. "Well done, Kagato." He said. The shadows around him parted, revealing a tall; dark haired, blue eyed man that bore a strong resemblance to Teran. "I didn't expect you to use such unorthodox methods, but I won't be fooled a second time." The shadows coalesced about him as he disappeared. "I don't expect you to be." Kagato replied. "But why are you here? You don't serve Tokimi, do you?" He looked around at the destruction surrounding him, searching for any black garbed soldiers who may be hiding. He found none. The sound of metal striking metal caught his attention as he turned to see Teran fighting the leader of the soldiers. From the look of things, it seemed that Teran was winning. When the soldiers attacked, Teran immediately sought out the leader. He didn't have to look far. He spied the white haired, solid blue eyed man amidst a ring of guards. The skill in which that man wielded the sword was impressive. The guards were dead before they knew what hit them. "It's been a long time traitor." He said to the man. "Indeed, it has been a very long time, cousin." D3 replied. "Delthar, you are the one responsible for my family's destruction." Teran immediately shook. His rage welled up as he tapped the true nature of his Kirallian bloodline. Power surged through him, as psychic energy pulsed around him. The fighting around him ceased, for the very air seemed to become alive. He shut his eyes as if he were in pain. When he opened them, they shined an azure blue. "And for that, you will die!" he shouted. He let out a massive blast of psychic energy at the man, who barely brought his shield up in time. "Damn! You're more powerful than I had thought." was D3's reply. "But the name Delthar has had no meaning for me for over ten thousand years." "Then what should I call you by." D3 smiled. "Call me D3." He looked at the soldiers near him and nodded to them. They spread out in a circle, surrounding both he and Teran. "Name your guards, Teran. You and I will fight. They had better not interfere, as my guards won't." Teran looked at Yosho and his mother and nodded. They gathered a group of guards, and took positions between the soldiers. "Now D3, we settle this." He said. "The reaper follows our footsteps. Who will he take? You, or me?" "We'll see. Now die!" Teran launched an attack at his cousin, which was easily blocked. "Is this all you can do?" D3 asked. "Are you so besotted with that slut of a princess, that you can't fight?" Teran's anger multiplied to the point of insane fury. He unleashed a psychic blast that threw D3 back. It was undirected, so it didn't kill him, but it was still powerful. "You are so easy to manipulate." D3 said mockingly. "I can play you like a flute." Teran's anger turned into chagrin, as he realized that D3 was right. He let his emotions distract him. He can't fight the man. At this rate, he will eventually make a mistake. He couldn't afford that. He brought his emotions under control, and readied himself. He brought his power to bear and held it, waiting. Sasami? He called telepathically. Teran? Where are you? Came her astonished reply. I'm about to fight the leader. Don't interfere. Why? I can't fight him, but I can defeat him. What? She was definitely confused. I will not fight him, but he won't be able to harm me. I will create a psychic shield that will block all his efforts. He will defeat himself. I understand. Good luck, my love. Thank you, my love. He broke contact. His face was now calm. There was a glint to his eyes that was not there previously. His heart will accomplish what his sword could not. D3 saw the change and knew that Teran was ready. He brought his sword out and delivered a fast and furious attack. Teran used his psychic energy to create a sheild that blocked each attack. D3 didn't understand why the boy didn't fight back, but pressed the attack. Each time D3 attacked, Teran blocked it, but he did not fight back. In fact, he stood there, unmoving, the entire time. "Why don't you fight back?" D3 asked. "Why should I?" Came the curt reply. "If you don't, then you are dead." "Oh please, you can come up with a better reason than that. Are we going to stay here and talk? Or are we going to continue? That is, if you haven't forgotten how to use that sword." Teran kept a straight face during the entire exchange, but those last words were full of venom. D3 nearly lost his temper with that last remark, but brought himself under control. The kid's playing me like a flute. He thought. He will neither fight back, nor will he yield. I can't win this one. "Well done Teran, you have proven yourself a true warrior." He told the boy. "You defeat me without fighting back. You have won this time." He began to laugh. "A true warrior let's his enemy defeat himself. He doesn't lose, and he gains great honor for it. Even the enemy is honored, for he is admired for his spirit. Until next we meet, Teran." With that, he vanished. The rest of the soldiers, taking their cue vanished as well. Even the dead soldiers were gone. Teran watched this all, and couldn't believe it. His desperate plan actually worked. He saw Sasami standing next to his mother, staring at him in awe. He tried to move towards them, but he found that his muscles would no longer respond. He pondered this for a second before exhaustion took him and he fell to the floor. He didn't even feel the impact. "Teran!" Sasami and Washu shouted simutaneously. Tokimi watched the entire battle from her ship. She was not entirely happy that the mission was a failure, but she was not unhappy either. She didn't think that D3 would be able to pull it off, but it allowed her some insight into the minds of her enemies. She smiled as she watched Teran and the rest wonder on the motives of the attack. They knew that it was to capture them, but they didn't know why. I will wait for you all to come to me. She began to laugh. Yes, this was good. Tenchi looked around him, stunned. One minute, he was fighting alongside his wives to be and daughter, and now there was nothing to fight. The only sign that a battle took place here, were the dead guards and the damage done to the hall. Broken glass littered the bloodstained floor, here and there were the bodies of those guards who were killed. All of the wedding guests were huddled in a corner, scared out of their minds. That puzzled Tenchi. The only people that those black garbed soldiers attacked were the guards, he, and his friends. Everyone else was left alone. "Tenchi," called Ayeka. "Coming." He replied. He walked over to where his friends were gathered. He saw Teran lying on the floor with his head cradled in Sasami's lap. He saw that Washu had a worried expression on her face as she stared at her unconscious son. "What happened?" he asked. "The boy exhausted himself." Replied a familiar voice, "Given about a day's rest, he'll be fine." "Kagato, I killed you. Yet here you are, alive." He replied, turning to look the man in the eyes. Ayeka and Ryoko were on the verge of attacking, when Washu shouted. "Hold it!" "What?" both women asked. "He came here to help. In fact, if it wasn't for him, we'd be Tokimi's prisoners." "What do you mean?" Tenchi asked. "That's simple. I redirected half of the soldiers to a different location. They should have been dealt with by now." Kagato replied. "I didn't ask you." Tenchi snapped. "You think I care?" "You two, stop it." Washu snapped at them. "Teran's regaining consciousness." Teran opened his eyes to stare into the pink eyes of Sasami; He moved his head, looking at everyone. His eyes stopped when he saw Kagato. "So Kagato, you're the Lost One." He said. Kagato only nodded in reply, but Teran lapsed back into unconsciousness. "What does he mean?" Tenchi asked Kagato. "He's referring to the Tarellian Oracles." He replied. "I'll explain it after Teran recovers. He needs to know this more that you do." "That's not an answer." "I'll give you one later." The look an Kagato's face told Tenchi that it would be a good idea to stay quiet. D3 knelt in front of his mistress. He had just apologized for his failure and was waiting for his punishment. It didn't come. He looked up to see Tokimi smiling at him. "My lady?" he asked. "D3, I'm not going to punish you. I had my doubts on whether you would succeed since that incident in the Juraian throne room. Teran has shown himself to be a powerful adversary. He would have won in the end." "Yes my lady, but he is not yet experienced in using those powers." "I know, but I have enlisted some new help. You know him, I believe." "Who?" "Me." Came a man's voice. "It has been a long time cousin." The owner of the voice stepped out of the shadows. The blood drained out of d3's face when he recognized the man. There stood his cousin, Althair ai Ki'Tarel en Orlain. "Althair, you're alive." He said. Althair smiled at his cousin. Author's Note: Well that concludes this one. I'd like to hear any Comments and Criticisms from you. Flames are also welcome, but please keep the four letter words down to a minimum. Feel free to print this or MST it if you want to. This goes for the rest of the series as well.
