Tenchi Muyo: Honor And Glory Disclaimer: All characters in this fic are the property of Pioneer Entertainment and AIC. The only characters that I take credit for, are those that I have made up. So don't sue me. Now here we go. Part 1: Heroes Path In the cold expanses of the universe, there have been many conflicts. None of which have warranted my attention. Except one. This conflict has proceeded off and on through the ages. Light against Dark. Dark against Light. All have been without conclusion. Both sides were greatly weakened at the cost of countless lives. Now it has begun anew. -Recollections of a god- It is a calm summer day at the Masaki household. It has been a year since the battle with Yuzuha. Ayeka and Sasami have returned to Jurai for a reunion with their parents. Mihoshi and Kiyone were called back to the Galaxy Police to file a report. Yes, it is a calm summer day at that. "Daddy!" called a girl of about fifteen. "What is it Mayuka?" came the reply of an eighteen year old boy. "I have just returned from Washu's lab. There is good news!" "What is it?" "Ayeka and Sasami are coming back! And they're bringing guests!" "Who?" "Their parents and Grandpa's mother." She noticed the look on Tenchi. "Daddy, what is wrong?" "It means that I am probably a dead man, Mayuka. Azusa doesn't like me to start with, and if he finds out about you, I'm going to be in a lot of trouble." "Oh." "Well, I'd better tell Grandpa about who's going to be visiting us. By the way, when are they going to arrive?" "Tomorrow, why?" "You'll see." At that statement he chuckled. "Grandpa, you're going to be in for a surprise." The walk to the Masaki shrine did not seem as long as it usually did. It was with a light heart that Tenchi and Mayuka told their grandfather the news. He took it fairly predictably. "My parents are coming here?" asked Yosho. "Well yes," replied Tenchi. "Apparently they want to visit." "I am aware of that." Yosho replied sourly, "Tenchi, I want you to return home and prepare to welcome them. My family probably has a reason for coming here." It was a resigned Yosho who went back into the shrine. On his way back, Tenchi ran into Mayuka again. There was a mischievous look in her eye that told Tenchi that something was up. "What's up Mayuka?" "Daddy, Washu want's you at her lab for some reason." The look in her eye told him that she hadn't said everything. "What else is up Mayuka?" "She wants me to make sure that Ryoko doesn't come home soon. So, I am going to step up my training for a bit." Mayuka's training has gone on admirably. With Ryoko training her in the use of her powers, she has improved remarkably. Grandpa's sword training also helped. It won't be long until his granddaughter equaled him. Tenchi knew what this meant, but he also knew it was unavoidable. Every time he entered Washu's lab, she always tried to get that damn "sample" from him. So far, he has managed to escape her. But he knew that it wouldn't likely happen again. So, it was an apprehensive Tenchi who entered Washu's lab. It was full of the usual scientific implements, although far more advanced than can be found on Earth, inventions, and experiments. Tenchi hardly gave these a glance. He has been here often enough to know where he was going. It was the owner of the lab he was looking for. Therefore he wasn't taken completely off guard, when a chair swept him off his feet and tied him in place. "Hello, Tenchi." came a female voice, "I have been waiting for you." Then out of the shadows came Washu. Tenchi did a double take when he saw what she was wearing. Better yet, what she wasn't wearing. Washu was completely naked and holding several syringe needles full of a dark, blue liquid. "Washu, what the hell has gotten into you?" Tenchi asked in a surprised voice. "I plan to get that sample Tenchi, and I mean now." After that, she changed into an older, taller, more mature form. "Holy shit! What has gotten into you?" he already knew the answer. "I'll let you figure that out on your own, Tenchi.." her voice now had a musical, hypnotic quality that it previously lacked, "Since you haven't cooperated, I have decided to take certain measures to insure that we have complete privacy." "I'm not worried about that, Washu." Tenchi's voice has steadied and now had a hint of anger in it, "I just want to know how you plan to get that 'sample'." "In these needles, is an aphrodisiac that I have made. This will make you very cooperative. Especially for what I intend to do." "Washu, wait!" Tenchi's expression had a frightened look to it. "Don't worry, Tenchi. This won't hurt." With that said, she stuck the needle in his arm and injected the aphrodisiac. Tenchi immediately felt warmth spread throughout his body. As the drug was taking effect, Washu began to strip him. When the aphrodisiac took full effect, the restraints that were holding Tenchi in place came off. Although Tenchi was under the full effect of the drug, he was still coherent enough to see that both he and Washu were no longer in the lab, but in a spacious bedroom. As he commented on this, Washu's reply was brief and a little naughty. "I designed it for this purpose Tenchi." she purred. She then led Tenchi over to the large, obviously soft, bed. As they neared it, Tenchi noticed that Washu's breathing became heavier. She had him sit on the bed as she brought her body closer to his. The meaning was not lost on Tenchi, who pulled her into a long, passionate kiss. This seemed to inflame her passions to a level that Tenchi could never have conceived possible. Washu's body tensed before she pushed Tenchi down on his back. Both could feel the lust, desire, and passion emanating from each others body. They put all these pent up feelings to use as they slowly made love to each other. Tenchi hadn't felt so good in his life. An hour later, Tenchi and Washu lay in each others arms. Tenchi's arms were wrapped around Washu in such a way that there was no question on what they were doing. It was at that time that Ryoko decided to show up. Her reaction was fairly predictable. "No!" she screamed. "I…I…I can't believe it! Tenchi and my m-mother, making l-love while I was gone." The look in her eyes promised murder if a good explanation wasn't given soon. It was Washu who spoke first. "Listen, Ryoko, I drugged him." The look Ryoko gave her was one of insane fury. "Before you start going on a rampage, hear me out. Ayeka and Sasami are returning from their trip to Jurai. The Emperor and his wives are coming along." The look on Washu's face said more than that was going on. "Tenchi is to be brought to Jurai for training in his powers." Both Tenchi and Ryoko looked dumbfounded. "The training is for the purpose of getting Tenchi to control the Lighthawk Wings. I am aware that the training may kill him in the process. I wanted to insure that he would have a successor in cased he was killed during the training." She picked up a syringe. "I designed this aphrodisiac to insure that Tenchi would have a descendant." "But, why?" Tenchi was confused, "I mean, why go to such lengths to insure this? You have to have a reason for this. So, why?" "I was asked by Lady Misaki to create a substance that would ensure that Tenchi would have a successor." she looked at Tenchi, " It didn't take me long with the data I do have on you. I had to test it, though, to make sure. That is why I used it today. It worked far better than I thought it would. The rest I will give to Lady Misaki for safekeeping." "Washu, I know that your intentions were well meant, but please, for the sake of all our health, don't try that again." "Don't worry, Tenchi." she gave him a speculative look, "I think you may want to get some rest while you can. Tomorrow is going to be an eventful day." Washu might as well have been a prophet when she said that. The royal family of Jurai arrived at dawn. Everyone that lived at the Masaki household was present. Their feelings, however, were mixed. Tenchi had the look of someone who is facing his execution. Mayuka had the ever present cheeriness that she seems to have gotten from Sasami. Noboyuki was awed that the royal family of Jurai would visit his home a second time. Yosho had a resigned look on his face. Ryoko and Washu were mirror images of each other. No emotion showed on their faces. The members of the royal family had similar looks on their faces. Azusa showed no emotion. Misaki and Funaho looked like two women on vacation. Ayeka and Sasami were glad to be back at the place that has been their home for over a year. It was Yosho who went out to welcome his family. "I welcome you, father, mother, and Aunt Misaki, to my home." His tone was that of a person formally greeting guests. "Hello, Yosho," Azusa replied. "I have come for the purpose of taking Tenchi with me to Jurai." He noted that only Noboyuki seemed surprised. "I have surmised as much. Give him some time to accept it though. You are asking him to leave his home behind." "Well, now that I have that out of the way, I ask if we can stay for awhile. It will take Tenchi time to learn the protocol that will be expected of him." He smiled. "Anyway, I am not quite ready to return home quite yet." "Indeed," said Misaki. "It has been a long trip from Jurai. I'd like to test Tenchi in the use of a sword. I hear that he has improved." "Besides," commented Funaho. "It will be awhile before we can return to Earth again." She looked around. "I see a new face in the crowd. Why don't you introduce her, Yosho?" Yosho introduced Mayuka. When it was learned that she was Tenchi's daughter, Azusa almost went up in flames. When the circumstances surrounding the girl were learned, Azusa did lose it. "You mean to tell me, that Mayuka is the daughter of Tenchi and that demon Yuzuha?" Azusa shouted. "How can that be?" "Father, Yuzuha created Mayuka by cloning both Tenchi's and her own DNA." Yosho knew that his father would react this way, but he also knew that it would be better if it was known now. "Mayuka holds a lot of love for Tenchi. Especially after Yuzuha killed her." "Surely that girl is no clone." "No, she is not a clone. A soul crystal was left. After the battle with Yuzuha, Tenchi returned, and Washu used the soul crystal to revive Mayuka." "I still can't believe that a creature of darkness is a part of this family." Azusa looked around. "I think I'd better get inside. This is more than I can handle." "This way, father." Tenchi watched his grandfather and Azusa enter the house. He was very relieved that things actually turned out this well. "He took it better than I thought he would." Tenchi said to himself. "Well of course he did." Tenchi started at the voice, "Azusa is not as narrow minded as he seems." "Well, yes, I am aware of that, Lady Misaki." "I have to talk with Washu now." "If it is about that substance you wanted her to make, don't worry. It works." Tenchi blushed when he realized what he just said. "I see." There was a mischievous grin on her face. "I'll bet she tested it herself." "Well, yes, she did." Tenchi's blush deepened. "How do you think Ayeka is going to react? When Ryoko found out, she almost killed Washu." "Ayeka knows about the experiment. In fact, it was her idea." She chuckled. "To think my daughter would actually go to those lengths to get you. Well, it doesn't matter." She grinned evilly. "Tell me, how was the experience?" The remark startled Tenchi. "Well, ummmm…..uhhhhh…..ahhhh…" Tenchi was blushing furiously now. "I see. I bet you enjoyed it too. Well, didn't you?" Tenchi decided that now was the perfect time to run. Misaki's laugh followed him for some distance. When he thought it was safe, he stopped to collect his thoughts. "Ayeka, coming up with the idea? It doesn't make any sense." Like anything makes sense here. he thought. "How would you know, Lord Tenchi?" Ayeka's voice came from behind him. He broke the world record for the High Jump in a standing position. "I do love you, but you can be impossible at times. Although I am not too happy that Washu made love to you." "How did you know that?" "It's quite obvious. What you said about Ryoko proved it." The look she gave him, was one of lust and love. "If it was so effective, then I guess I'll have to try it out." "You're joking, right?" Oh please, Kami-samma say she is joking. "I don't think so. I believe that you are not going to get much sleep for the next several nights, Lord Tenchi. Let's go in." Tenchi realized that Ayeka was telling the truth. He thought about it and came to the conclusion that he was probably going to enjoy it. He only hoped that he would survive long enough to reflect on it. Well, no point worrying about it. ****** In another dimension, a boy of about Tenchi's age was about to do battle. He was armed with a sword, a broad sword to be precise, and a knife. His opponent was similarly armed. Should have brought my gun. He thought as he sized up the man before him. "Give up boy," the man sneered "You can't defeat an immortal." "My name is John, Tethan ."the youth said tartly, "Don't think that you cannot be defeated." "If I am defeated, it will be your hell." "We make our own hells. The outcome is what matters. You seek an honorable death, but prefer to die in battle. I just want to avenge my father." "That man was not your father." Tethan replied, "In fact, your father died shortly after you were born." John knew that this was true, but he never knew that man. All he knew, was that this bastard killed the man that he has called his father for all of his life. "That may be true, but I never knew him. The man that I have called my father is dead. Now prepare to die!" "If you are so anxious to die, then so be it." "I have made my peace. Have you?" John drew his sword. "I have." He raised his blade. "En Guarde!" John soon realized that he was outmatched in skill, but not strength or speed. He adjusted his style accordingly. In other words, he attacked like a madman. The ferocity of the attack forced Tethan back. "I can't fight well here!" he mumbled to himself. "You say something, Tethan?" John asked. "Yes, you're good, but it is time we finished this!" he laughed, "You will see a new world before you die." "Another world?" "Yes. Let's see how well you fight in different conditions." Immediately, the scenery changed. In an instant, they were in a void. In another instant, they were standing in a courtyard. "Now, let's see how you can really fight!" The attack Tethan delivered was fast and furious. "Shit!" John noticed that his speed and strength have doubled. He also noticed that his opponent had similar advantages. Readying himself, he charged straight at Tethan, uttering a battle cry that would done a marine proud. John and Tethan continued to fight for several minutes. Neither letting up, nor pulling back. Each was bleeding from several wounds. After a few more strikes, John managed to stab Tethan, who could only stare in shock at the sword in his stomach. "Well done boy. You are indeed a fine warrior. Now your suffering has begun." With a flick of his wrist, the dying man hurled several energy bolts at John. With each hit, a part of his consciousness, long dormant, finally awoke. The screams of pain were heard for quite a distance. ****** The screams were heard clearly by Tenchi and Yosho on the shrine steps. "What is that?" Tenchi asked. "The screams of a soul in the throes of agony." Yosho replied, "I have heard these screams only once before. And I never want to hear them again." "Grandpa, we must go! Someone might be seriously injured." "All we will likely find, is a dead person." "I know." They rushed up the steps to the shrine. When they arrived, they saw two people. One was bleeding profusely from several wounds that were fast healing. He was green-eyed, with dark hair, and appeared to be about Tenchi's age. The other was obviously about to die. "Tethan," the wounded one said. "what the hell have you done to me? What has happened to me? I can feel the power flowing, coursing through me. But what is it?" "Your birthright." The dying man said, "Listen. You have had a block put on your mind to protect you. You have lived by the name of John Carlen for most of your life. Now it is time for you to know the truth about your heritage. "Your true name is Teran ai Ki'Tarel, last of you family. You are right in one respect, I did kill your father, but it was for mercy. He was dying as I am now. I can't tell you everything, but I will give you the identities of those responsible for you family's destruction." As Tethan told him, John, no Teran, memorized each name and vowed to restore his family. When Tethan uttered the last name, he died. "I can't believe it!" came a voice from behind, "The Ki'Tarel family was destroyed over twenty-thousand wears ago." Teran turned around to see an elderly man and a boy of about his age. He noticed that the older man had two appearances. "Twenty-thousand years you say?" he replied. "Damn, it was far less time for me." "How do you mean?" "It has only been eighteen years for me.' He chuckled. "I see there is a time differential involved." "I see." Tenchi noted that the young man was at a ready stance. He was wary after that last fight. "We haven't caught your full name, although we heard part of the conversation." "Oh yeah. I am Teran ai Ki'Tarel." "I am called Yosho." "And the other one?" "This is my grandson, Tenchi." "Hi." Tenchi said. "Hi." Teran said, relaxing. "I notice that the other one is dead." Yosho said. "I know. He sought the death he wanted." Damn fool. "An honorable one." Teran was obviously in pain. "You don't look so well." "I have never killed someone. I don't like it, and I never will. It wastes too much potential." He looked at Tenchi, "Know this, Tenchi. Whenever you take another persons life, you lose a part of yourself. If you do have to kill, remember, once you stop feeling sorrow or stop feeling period, you have gone to far." His expression showed enough pain to make a world weep. "You have consigned yourself to damnation. Remember that." "I will." Tenchi looked at Tethan's body. "What are we going to do with him?" "Bury him. The Earth gave birth to him. Now he shall return to it." "That may take some time." Yosho said. "No, it won't." he looked around. "A shallow grave is all that is needed. That is how it should be done." "The Warriors Path. I have heard it before. Honor and glory, life and death." The burial if Tethan was brief. Teran buried the sword with him, and covered him with dirt. "Yosho, I need a place to stay for awhile. At least long enough to gain some control of my abilities. After that, I am leaving this world to find those responsible for the death of my family." "Revenge is a hollow business, Teran. Are you sure about this?" "I hate to admit it, but yes. Hopefully I will find a different purpose before I go down that path." "There may be a way." "What is that?" "Come with us and find out." As the trio made their way to the house, Teran was given a rough overview of the events of the past few years. He said that with what happened to him, he was ready to believe it. He was then made aware of the truth surrounding the Masaki family. Along with the present situation. "Well Tenchi," Teran remarked. "looks like you are going to have a difficult time for awhile." "That doesn't bother me much. It is the fact the Washu made a chemical to insure that I have an heir." he said. Teran and Yosho burst out laughing at this. Tenchi realized what he just said and turned fourteen shades of red. This spurred on even more laughter from the pair. Tenchi thought about it for a moment and started to laugh himself. They made the rest of the journey in good humor. Once they reached the house, the introductions began. Azusa greeted him with surprise. Misaki gave him a bear hug that nearly broke his ribs. His injuries, although healed, began to hurt like hell during the exchange. Funaho bowed to him in a way that one does with equals. Washu asked him to visit her lab for some tests to confirm his identity. She was a little distracted when she left. The rest greeted him as a guest and possible friend. He raised an eyebrow when he learned about Mayuka. Tenchi said he'd explain later. Teran began to feel better afterwards. Once his story was told, Misaki and Funaho bullied Azusa into letting him come to Jurai. Teran and Tenchi were having a hard time hiding their amusement at Azusa's plight. Azusa's glare spoke volumes on what would happen if this got out. They grinned in reply. Teran decided that he'd better head for Washu's lab before she dragged him there. Tenchi warned him to be careful. Teran made a mistake. He entered the lab without someone to cover his back. When he found Washu, he was immediately restrained as she did various tests on him. He felt like a lab rat and made his opinion clear. "What the hell are you doing?" he asked. "Getting various medical samples for analysis." She replied. "I noticed that you have doubts on my identity. I do to, but I have to admit, a single gene sample is all that is necessary." What does she think I am? A fucking lab rat? "I know, but this is more fun." Teran could only stare at the adolescent in front of him. He knew that she was an adult and used that form with Tenchi. What he didn't know, was what she was about. He decided to wait and find out. He didn't wait long. "All right now, I am taking a gene sample. Now we'll see if you are who you say you are." "Okay. Now, get on with it." When the results came in, both of them were surprised to say the least. Washu's expression was one of shock, but other emotions were present. Teran's went from one emotion to the next. It can't be! He thought. This girl is my… He decided to break the silence that suddenly surrounded the lab. He found that his ability to speak was somehow hampered. "You are m-my m-m-m-m-m-mother?" Teran was trying to say. "I can't believe it. After twenty-thousand years, I can't believe it. My son. I finally find my son." She finally lost it and ran to him. She stayed there, crying, for ten minutes. Teran could only hold her. After she composed herself, he couldn't handle the emotions in himself and broke out crying. She held him as he wept for all those lost years, all those memories that would never be known. He wept for their loss. They decided to tell everyone the news. When they came out of the lab, their expressions were enough to tell the group that there was some good news. Washu had such a radiant look, that it seemed to outshine the sun. She looked like a goddess. Teran's had the happiest, most shit eating smile on his face, you'd think he was a new man. He has found that one member of his family is alive. He had a purpose other than revenge. Washu has found her son. She only cared for that. "Everyone," she said. "I'd like to introduce you to Teran ai Ki'Tarel en Habuki. My son!" those last words were shouted with such happiness, that someone would have been hard pressed to know that only a few minutes ago, she was crying her heart out. The reactions were fairly predictable. You could hear the facefall in Tokyo. Author's note: I'd like to say that it seems to have turned out well for a first try. I deviated from my original idea, but that is what should happen. This was adds more time for character development and interaction. I'd like to thank K'thardin for the comments on how to improve it. That and some of the ideas that sprang up. But you know the saying: 'Plagiarism is the best form of compliment." Any comments. Criticisms, constructive flames? I am at Jcarter762@aol.com. I am preparing the second part: Homecomings. Where Tenchi and the gang head to Jurai for some training. Teran comes as well, for obvious reasons. Note: Teran's full name is Teran ai Ki'Tarel en Habuki. The mother's family name is always at the end of the name for his people. Until then, adieu!
